CPECC Hami Tower Concentrated Solar Power Project to be completed in Mid 2019

Enlisted in China CSP Pilot Projects, CPECC Hami 50MW molten salt tower CSP project has been progressed well and the project installation work had been fully started last month in November after the structure of the 180m receiver tower was completed in late October.

The project is developed by state-owned company China Power Engineering Consulting Group Corporation (CPECC) and the EPC contract was awarded to its subsidiary Northwest Electric Power Design Institute Company (NWEPDI). As the only CSP pilot project in China Xinjiang Province, CPECC Hami CSP project is located in the highest latitude – 43°North. Moreover, CPECC Hami CSP project is also the earliest one to start construction among China 1 batch of pilot projects which are owned and developed by state owned enterprise. As CSP Focus reports, the project is expected to be completed in the middle of next year in 2019.

With the total investment of RMB 1,580 million, the CPECC Hami project is equipped with 13 hours’ molten salt solar thermal storage system. Till now, it has completed the biddings on solar concentrating system, turbine, steam generation, power generator, solar field and central receiver, pumps, heater, DCS, molten salt etc. The winners include both Chinese and foreign CSP companies like Dongfang Turbine, Dongfang Boiler, Sulzer Pump, Chromalox…
